The PRO'ss Window mount allows one to have easy access to the fishing rod. I was able to use it on a recent fishing trip to Crane Lake. We spent many hours trolling the waters for big walleye. The PRO'ss Window mount allowed me to safely steer the boat and watch the rod. It is a must product for those who do a lot of trolling. - Jim Traeger
Len Rodels introduced the Marmish ice fishing system in 2002. Based on a simple concept, it has remained a closely guarded secret by those who use it. Think of it as a delicious chocolate, after you have eaten dinner. You pass by a table and see the chocolate, even though you are full, you will still want to eat the chocolate. With Marmish you will bring the fish to your hook with the presentation of an irresistible treat.
The Marmish rod is tiny in comparison to traditional gear. Including the spool, rod and indicator it weighs in at only 18 grams and measures out to a mere nine inches. The spool is housed in a flexible cup that allows you to set the drag by squeezing the cup. The light weight and choice of materials allows the Marmish to float. It does not freeze up, tangle up and is virtually indestructible. It is the Marmish rod size that makes the difference in presentation. The small rod allows you to sit over your bait and provide constant vibration of the lure.
The technique is to lower your lure to the bottom and then bring it back up slowly. While raising the lure up you make tiny circles with the rod tip. It is a combination of the small attractive lure and the consistency of movement that makes the presentation appear so natural to the fish. When you get an interested fish you will see it and believe me, you will feel it. To set the hook you simply drop your wrist while raising your elbow. This action actually provides a better hook set by feeding the jig to the fish. The end result is a straight line between the spool and your jig, which is now buried in your fish. The spool can be used to take in slack and thus reel in the fish. The better method is to wear out the fish and then pull the fish up hand over hand.
Marmish strike indicators are built from stainless spring steel to allow for maximum sensitivity. Instead of following the idea that there should be a different rod for each level of sensitivity, the Marmish strike indicator is also adjustable which allows you to tune it to match the presentation you choose. They can be used with conventional rods but, are a perfect weapon when matched with the Marmish rod.
The Marmish system offers a wide variety of handmade, hand painted lures. They are lead free, built around a custom order Eagle Claw hook and embellished with a colored glass bead. Special care has been taken to insure that the eye of lure is free of paint. The jigs can be used with bait but, they are designed to be used without it.
Although Marmish was invented with panfish in mind, anglers have adapted the strategy to all species of fish. There are reports of a 17.8 pound Pike and a 13.5 pound Laker caught with the Marmish system. The true testament to how well the Marmish system works is not as apparent on the days when everyone on the ice is catching fish. It is realized on those days when the only people catching are those using a Marmish.
Marmish are made in Edmonton, Canada and can be purchased through their website www.marmish.ca. There you will find the full line as well as pictures and video that further demonstrate the Marmish advantage.

Fish Vision UV Lure Paint. That’s all you need for a successful fishing experience, whether you’re fishing for fun or in a competitive environment.
If you look at the pictures, you can see exactly how Fish Vision works. The lure in the middle has been painted with Fish Vision UV Lure Paint. The lure on the left is a regular jig and the lure on the right is a glow jig. As the lures are lowered in water and viewed in UV (that’s how fish see), you can see how Fish Vision works as they are submerged deeper and deeper. Under 10 of water, you can barely see the lure on the left and right and under 20 feet of water, they basically disappear. But the patent pending Fish Vision painted lure is still bright and bold for the fish to see and bite at!
This technology isn’t new. Other people have already experimented with this concept but Fish Vision is now taking it to another level, and it is now being released to the public! Professional fishing teams have had much success with this product and so can you!
The best thing about Fish Vision UV Lure Paint is that it’s easy to use and NEVER needs recharging and never fades! It is 200 times brighter than glow paint. Just paint your jigs, lures, spinners and much more, let dry, and fish away!
So remember your paintbrush and some Fish Vision Lure Paint when you’re ready for fishing this summer and you can increase your catch size and amount!
Fish Vision is available in 4 colors: UV Blue, UV Chartreuse, UV White, and UV Red. It is a product of ReelWings and available by calling 1-701-365-8222 or visiting their website www.uvfishvision.com.
Special thanks to Mark Arnesen at Arnesen’s Rocky Point Resort on Lake of the Woods for providing a fun and professional environment to test this product.
The planet’s ultimate finesse jig bugs ‘em to bite
Lifelike new BUG-A-BOO™JIG takes a page out of nature’s own playbook
Bemidji, MN. – Marabou is “nature’s fish catcher.” It’s been that way for over a century, since fly-tiers first recognized the lively “pulsing” and “breathing” qualities of these choice feathers. Meanwhile, since the dawn of the freshwater fishing revolution, Northland Fishing Tackle has been making the world’s best jigs—they’re “man’s fish catcher,” you might say. It was only “natural” then, for marabou and Northland to come together, creating the most dynamic multi-species finesse lure on the planet…the BUG-A-BOO™JIG!
Hand-crafted by the jig-tying experts at Northland, all BUG-A-BOO™ JIGS take shape around a premium Mustad® Ultra-Point™ hook and a rockin’ mushroom-shaped head. Individual super-fine NaturesEdge™ grade AA marabou feathers are placed meticulously around the jig shank to produce a subtle pulsating, breathing, undulating action that never rests. Just the slightest movement activates the BUG-A-BOO™ JIG’s fibers, delivering the fish-catching message: It’s alive!
“If there’s a fish that needs catching, the BUG-A-BOO™JIG is what I’m throwing,” says TEAM NORTHLAND™ Pro Tony Roach. “Just like live bait, this jig is always working for me down below—its premium feathers never stop quivering and quaking. Its secret is movement within movement as well as living and breathing even at rest. That’s a powerful trigger. Doesn’t matter if it’s a big crappie, perch, walleye, bass or trout, this lively little jig is the answer. To fish, it’s part leech, part larvae, and 100% alive.”
The tantalizing new BUG-A-BOO™ JIGS feature natural colored heads and eleven fish-friendly marabou patterns in four select sizes—1/32, 1/16, 1/8 & 1/4-ounce. These lively looking jigs tease, tickle and bug ‘em to bite!
